Fallbook is a handmade book by Max Wallmeier and Maia Means. We sent a hand-bound book back and forth between each Stockholm and Copenhagen for half a year, and created text and drawings with different materials (pen, pencil, needle and thread, paint, knife and parts of plants we found in our environment).

The entries were gestures thrown into the open, picked up by the other and transformed. By moving back and forth between two cities, actual movement in time and space heavily influenced the making and content of the book, as did the people delivering the book between the cities.

The practices of making the book emerged through the making. We reacted to each other’s by copying, alternating and continuing from where the other left of. We both sometimes tested things on separate pages outside of the book, but most of the material came into being on the pages. It was produced and published, without further editing, on the page, immediately through practice.
